In 2012 one of our founders suffered from paroxysmal AF for a period of 18 months, and also went through the sub-optimal process related to diagnosis and management of the arrhythmia. During this period he experienced more than 25 episodes of AF, visited ER about 10 times and called 911 to end up travelling by ambulance to the hospital at least 5 times. He was seen by four different specialists, carried a Holter monitor, had an implanted loop recorder, underwent multiple tests including two electrophysiology studies – none of which provided sufficient information about the problem to get the proper treatment. The conventional process employed in the detection, diagnosis and treatment of the AF was significantly slow, expensive, intrusive (implants), and quite frustrating. He realized the health care system was missing a solution that could capture a patient’s heart data with precision continuously and in real time. In that 18-month period, he started a journey to conceive the creation of a company that would produce a patient oriented, convenient and immediate technology to improve the way chronic diseases are diagnosed and managed.

Having more than 20 years of experience building AI systems and real-time applications to monitor, manage and improve the performance in Telecom networks, he immediately correlated the idea of transferring these technologies into building solutions at scale that would empower patients and healthcare practitioners to manage chronic disease conditions.

He then engaged three of his closest friends: The first two PhDs from well-known Universities in the UK with more than thirty years of combined experience in AI and Biomedical Technologies; and the third a successful MBA from a Canadian University and entrepreneur in the medical industry with extensive background in business development. Together, they are at the core of Sensing Health Technologies shaping its destiny and driving it to its north.
